Gabion
Gabion — A Gabion structure is prepared from pre-assembled rectangular cages made of double twisted hexagonal steel woven wire mesh. These are uniformly partitioned into internal cells, interconnected with other similar units, and filled with stone at the project site to form flexible, permeable monolithic structures. It is a simple gravity retaining structure, which retains soil with its weight.
These types of structures are in use for earth retaining and erosion control purposes, such as retaining walls, sea walls, channel linings, revetments, offshore bunds, dykes and weirs.
